Bar Tutto, Joe Flamm’s newest place, is the kind of all day restaurant that fits naturally into your plans, whether you stop in early for coffee and pastries, or settle in for dinner. Rooted in Italian cafe culture, it has an easy, welcoming feel that encourages lingering without ever feeling formal.
I went for dinner Friday and thought it balanced simplicity and depth. Oysters arrive briny and clean, layered with smoked shallot, grilled olives, and Calabrian chili for a subtle hit of heat. They were also super accommodating and allowed me to do a half order. The mozzarella crostino is rich and comforting, with squash mostarda and candied pepitas adding sweetness and crunch. The roasted carrot salad is hearty and well composed, combining broccolini, orzo, pistachio, and burrata, all tied together with a date vinaigrette that adds warmth without heaviness.
The bavette steak anchored the meal. Cooked beautifully and served with a bright peperonata sauce, it feels both classic and right for the space. Fries on the side are crisp and indulgent, especially dipped into the smoked garlic aioli.
Bar Tutto does not overcomplicate things. It focuses on good ingredients, thoughtful execution, and being a place that works just as well for a casual stop in as it does for a full meal. I’m excited to go back and try out brunch and lunch.
