When I think about the best city to get authentic Italian food, I immediately think of New York City. While I’ve never been there, that’s one of the things it’s known for. You can bet I would make it a point to eat plenty of Italian food if I were to ever visit.
But here’s the thing – some of the best authentic Italian food can be found right here in Texas. In fact, a recent study by Cooking School Italy by Accademia Italiana Chef named a San Antonio spot as the second-best restaurant in the country for authentic Italian.

As a big fan of both the Alamo City and Italian food, I perked up when I saw Dough Pizzeria Napoletana ranked at the top of the list. So yeah, I’m going to have to stop by and give it a try the next time I’m down that way (which, admittedly, isn’t often enough).
Looking at the reviews on Yelp, users rave about their pizza. Kate M., an elite Yelper from Florida, went as far as to say it was some of the best pizza she had ever had and would make it a point to eat there the next time she was in Texas. That’s all I needed to hear. Look out, Dough, here I come.
