This bottle spoke to me sitting on the shelf. Knew there was a little bit of risk with the cork and not knowing storage conditions but fill level and foil was almost perfect condition so I took the leap. It payed off! Cork was in excellent shape for the age. Decanted and drank it over 2 hours it really started opening up perfectly after 45 minutes with subtle dark fruit aged tobacco and pressed rose petals on the nose. Very smooth on the palette tannins have aged nicely with harmonious acidity. Paired with a prime NY strip finished off with a brownie homemade vanilla ice cream raspberry puree and coconut german chocolate. It was a perfect night needless to say. Cheers y’all!

Where was dinner? always looking for good corkage or BYOB places
Flatiron wines?
That’s awesome.
There’s no real risk from that shop. They do their homework on provenance.
And they’d give you credit if it were dead or corked, even if it’s an old bottle or from a private cellar acquisition.
One of the best shops in the whole city. Great wines, great people.
And, Vinyl is killer. Nice pick. I’d generally take a dinner there over any of the more expensive/prestigious steakhouses. Owners are wonderful people, so are the staff, food is great, and they’re corkage-friendly.
Quite a few times now I’ve stopped in at Flatiron to then bring something over there.
flatiron wines is great
Not my favorite vintage in bordeaux but for that price id pull the trigger
