Three Sunday afternoons in January will feature wine-pairing events at a popular French bistro in Palm Beach.
Special pours, multi-course small-plate menus and wine-expert guests will be spotlighted Jan. 11, 18 and 25 at La Goulue, 288 S. County Road.
With limited seating and advance-reservations required, each event is at 3:30 p.m. with hosts Xavier To Van Trang, La Goulue’s sommelier, and Gwen Le Pape, the bistro’s executive chef.
The cost per event is $195 a person, excluding tax and gratuity.
While menus are being finalized for the Jan. 18 and 25 wine-pairing events — which will Champagnes and Altima Caviar, among other things — details shared by La Goulue about the Jan. 11 event reveal tempting fare.
A multi-course tasting menu will be paired with French wines from Burgundy, including Premier Cru selections; special-guest Nick Jackson, a certified Master of Wine, will share insights and anecdotes.
The Jan. 11 tasting menu includes such dishes as Beau Soleil oysters with Altima Caviar; baked sea scallops with leek fondue; porcini-and-escargot casserole; braised lamb shank in red wine with pommes fondants; and a chocolate and salted-butter caramel tart with gold leaf.
