I picked this up at my local Kroger affiliate a couple weeks ago. To start, I couldn’t really taste any “brown butter” in the base. It tasted very bland, which can work when paired with strongly flavored mix-ins. The base was also very airy and light, which is to be expected from Private Selection. It’s a budget option, after all. The caramel is where I assume the bourbon flavoring was supposed to come in, and while it does taste nice… the texture was weirdly slimy. I hate to say this, but it reminded me of snot….. absolutely no complaints about the truffles at least. Next time I’d skip over this and go for the sea salt caramel truffle which uses the same truffles but as far as I can remember NOT the same caramel. At least I don’t remember the caramel being slimy in that one, but I could be wrong 😄

Looks so good. Wish Kroger’s were around here.
Good informative review. Thanks for sharing and including photos.
They have some really strong flavors (pumpkin cheesecake) and some duds. I do like that the price is low enough that I’m not too grumpy if it’s not tasty.
The scream I _scrumpt_ at that last pic
I like it well enough. I’d thought the flavor might be strongest in the truffles. Oddly I kind of prefer it melted, or at least soft (probably sweeter?).
Yeah, not perfect, but cheaper than a lot of other stuff I like even less.
Agree the caramel seems soft, and can ooze slowly. I can only get the larger size near me. And I tend to scoop all (top to bottom) of a scoopable area at a time, so there is a big wall where caramel can puddle near if it’s exposed along that edge.
This is one of my go-to flavors when private select goes on sale 2 for 1! Both this and the churro flavor were delightful.
This flavor is amazing and is in my freezer right now!
