A stand-out Virginia Italian concept is making its way to DC diners. Scolapasta, which invites guests to enjoy the speed and convenience of fast-casual dining paired with delicious home-made pastas and sauces, is opening a new location in Navy Yard, reports Eater Washington DC.
The authentic Italian eatery will be taking over the 1201 Half Street SE storefront that previously housed Basebowl. The latter restaurant served its last dish of ramen in December of 2025 and locals are certain to be relieved to hear the building won’t be remaining vacant for long.
An opening timeline is not presently available; What Now DC has reached out to ownership for further details and will update readers as more information becomes available.
Scolapasta began feeding DMV foodies in 2024. The concept has one location open in Tysons Galleria in McLean and another storefront in Ballston Quarter.
DC pasta fanatics are certain to welcome Scolapasta’s unique approach to their favorite carbs. The restaurant invites guests to curate their ideal pasta dish by selecting a pasta, a sauce, and toppings ranging from meatballs to cheese. However house recipes are available for visitors with decision paralysis.
