Gabriel received an Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Grenoble in 1996 and from the Imperial College in 1997. After some years working for the telecommunications industry within ALCATEL, Gabriel joined the R&D of EDF (French utility company) in 2001 and moved to the R&D department of RTE (the French Transmission System Operator) in 2003 working on different topic from long term planning, market coupling, system operations and operational planning with a strong focus on European R&D projects and European coordination. Since December 2019 Gabriel is heading the R&D of RTE, since then the R&D of RTE has included new topic like Resilience, Circular Economy, and geopolitics of its supply chain as key topics.
Gabriel deeply believes in the power of collaborations to fasten the energy transition. He has been involved in the creation of a new Open-Source foundation for the energy sector called the “Linux Foundation Energy”, in the creation of a new association for collaborative research for Power Systems called CRESYM and collaborations with IEEE and EPRI. Gabriel is also deeply involved in Standardisation both at the French level (member of the board of AFNOR) and at the European level (vice-chair of the Industrial Advisory Forum of CEN-CENELEC).
Since September 2025 Gabriel is a member of RTE’s EXCOM.
