An Italian restaurant has issued a heartbreaking statement as it announces its closure. Fez, located on Eccleston Street in Prescot, has shared the news of its closure on Instagram after opening its doors in August 2023. The restaurant serves up a selection of pizza and pasta dishes, as well as salads, risottos and desserts.

In an emotional statement posted on Instagram, the business announced that it would be closing its doors for the last time on Sunday, January 18. The post reads: “It’s with a heavy heart that we have to share that Fez will be opening its doors to our customers for the last time on January 18th.

“It’s been an incredible journey since we opened in August of 2023 and we’re extremely grateful to the local community, from friends, families and regulars to all visiting customers who have enjoyed Fez and invested their hard earned money in to our business.

“A huge thank you also to the local business community who have supported, promoted and been great friends to Fez.

“Prescot’s lucky to have one of the closest knit communities of business owners and it’s been a pleasure to be a part off.

“This extends also to our amazing suppliers and catering partners, without which we wouldn’t have been able to offer such great food and services.

“To all the people who have celebrated occasions with us, from work xmas dinners to house packed birthdays, baby showers and anniversaries, a huge thank you for choosing us. We hope the memories last a lifetime.

“The biggest thank you and appreciation to the amazing Fez team who have worked incredibly hard to create a wonderful, friendly and authentic dining experience for our customers!

“From tomorrow we will be open and operating as usual up until the last dish is served on Sunday 18th January. We look forward to seeing you over the next two weeks and more will be posted shortly.

“We’ll be posting info on bookings for the last chances to enjoy our wood fired pizzas, pastas and the two last days for the Sunday roasts.

“We’ll miss you all!”

Customers and other local businesses expressed their disappointment at the news. The Albion Bakehouse said: “Noooo so sad to see this.”

A customer said: “This is the saddest news, wishing all the team all the love and luck in the world with their next chapters! We will be in before you close.”

Another added: “Oh no so sorry to read this, you’ve always been the best place to come, brilliant service and host the best parties. Good luck for the next adventure.
