Dumplings filling and wonton wrappers!

Filling recipe:

Ingredients

• 8 oz ground pork

• 6–8 oz raw shrimp, finely chopped (not puréed)

• 2 green onions, finely minced

• 2 cloves garlic, grated

• 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

• 1 tbsp soy sauce

• 1 tbsp oyster sauce

• 1 tsp sesame oil

• 1 tsp sugar

• ½ tsp white pepper

• 1 tbsp cornstarch (helps bind and stay juicy)

Mix in one direction until the filling becomes slightly sticky, this gives you that bouncy, dumpling-style texture.

Layer this with dumpling wrappers and steam in a pot with water for 15-20 minutes.

Looks great OP, I’ve been wanting to try it as well. What are your thoughts, will you make it again?

can this even be considered a dumpling? cuz you definitely placed those gently…

This seems like a lot of work to make “fail dumplings”.

It’s far less time to actually just wrap the dumplings/wontons – Asians can pump out trays of dumplings – and they would be far better than this.

This looks like it’s trying to replace spicy Wontons, but I would much rather have a bowl of spicy Wontons than a mess of skins and filling.

Looks delicious but I’m triggered by putting that ramekin in the nonstick pan!

Making this for sure! I know this is a ridiculous question but for the mixture I assume the pork is also raw?

I thought that was cup noodle ramen in a ramekin for a second. Like yeah you CAN, and sure they look similar but that’s not what the name of that dish means.

  7. Can it still be considered steaming if you’re putting it directly on the heat?

    Looks yummy either way!

This is like when I make enchilada casserole because I don’t want to roll them up

This is kind of blasphemous but I can see the benefit of labor savings. But it also makes me think of wrapping up lasagne as a dumpling.

You could also let them cool and then invert them out on a plate.

This sounds great for a random snack. I gotta wrap them properly tho, it’s part of the experience for me lol

  12. I love this idea! We do this with perogi (I’m Ukrainian before anyone comes at me 😅). My mom has celiac and gluten-free perogi are a pain to make. Instead, we’ll make a ‘lasagna’ with layers of gf lasagna sheets and potato/cottage cheese filling. Similar idea to your dunplings and its so tasty! I’m going to give these a shot.

As someone who’s certain to mess up a pinched dumpling 🥟, this technique is something I am confident in trying. Thank you for sharing, cheers!

Oh hey I saw this from iankyo on YouTube awhile back and I’ve been wanting to try it he topped it off with chili crisp and some green onions

  16. This looks excellent. I’ve tried to make dumplings several times, but I’m horrible at wrapping, this looks like a good alternative.

I’m gonna make these soon they look so fucking delicious
