Prosecco Doc closes 2025 with a production of 667 million bottles, up 1.1% compared to 2024, for a total value of Euro 3.6 billion. More than 82% of production is destined for foreign markets, with exports to 164 countries, confirming the Denomination as the best-selling Italian sparkling wine in the world in a context marked by geopolitical instability, inflation, tariffs and pressure on consumption.
In terms of production, Prosecco Doc reached 606,891,509 bottles, while Prosecco Doc Rosé reached 60,360,239 bottles, confirming the now structural role of this type within the Denomination. The figure, according to the president of the Consortium, Giancarlo Guidolin, certifies the industry’s resilience in a complex year. “The result confirms the resilience of our Denomination in a phase characterised by strong instability in the global economy,” he said, noting that “Prosecco Doc has demonstrated solidity thanks to the compact work of winegrowers, winemakers and sparkling wine producers. It is this synergy, together with the constant commitment to consumer protection, that allows us to face complex international scenarios with balance and foresight’.
On the export front, data for the period January-September 2025 show differentiated trends in international markets. The United States remains the leading market with 23.8% of total exports and 8% growth, despite the volatility linked to the introduction of tariffs. This is followed by the United Kingdom, up 1.1%, and France, which, with a growth of 21.1%, takes third place, overtaking Germany, which recorded an increase of 3.1%. Positive results are also coming from other markets, both established and emerging, such as Greece and Mexico, while some areas show a downturn linked to specific geopolitical and economic dynamics.
During 2025, the consortium’s activities continued with continuity on the brand protection and international promotion front. The campaigns carried out in 39 countries generated a total of 2.1 billion ‘impressions’, strengthening the visibility of the Denomination in global markets. The year 2026 will also see Prosecco Doc play a leading role as Official Sparkling Wine Sponsor of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an internationally important showcase to enhance the link between Italian wine excellence and the territory.
Looking ahead to the year ahead, the Consortium aims to consolidate the value of the Denomination and ensure balanced profitability along the entire supply chain. “For 2026, the goal is to strengthen the value of Prosecco Doc in a scenario that will require attention and adaptability,” said Guidolin, concluding that “sustainability is a strategic priority: we are pursuing an ambitious project towards Sustainable Community certification according to the ISO 37101 standard, to integrate the environmental, social and economic efforts of the supply chain in a unified and measurable manner. We are also continuing the Low Alcohol project, with wines between 8 and 9 degrees, designed to respond to new consumption styles and in line with our constant call for responsible and conscious consumption’.
