What do you keep as back up for your pellet grill?
Picture for attention. How much extra pellets do you keep in your reserves? I try to keep 1-2 20 pound bags in reserve for the pellet grill.

When I buy bags I always buy 3 40 pound bags. Once I get down to 1 left I buy more. However last time a couple friends and I went in on a pallet of 40 pound bags so I had 13 bags on hand. I’m down to my last bag and a half so it’s time to prepare for another pallet buy.

I think I have 60 pounds in reserve at any one time. When they go on sale I have 200-300 pounds on hand

My pellet grill is the backup for my webbers.

I keep 1-2 bags. I haven’t used mine since I’ve had a few storms come through and being gone but now that playoff football is upon us I’m going to be buying 3-4 20lb bags to keep in reserve.

I have one of those big screw lid air tight dog food containers under the shelf of my recteq full of 2 bags of Costco pellets just in case. You can grab one at petsmart or petco. The grill cover fits over it and the pellets have stayed dry thru rain and snow so far. Easy to scoop pellets out as well because the lid opening is large.

I bought 3-40lb bags at Costco and I want to keep at least one full bag on hand

I don’t have a lot of storage room. There is a store 40 minutes away that sells my brand of pellets and i go there twice a year and buy 6 20 lb bags. I usually buy more when I put my second last bag in the hopper.

I was buying Lumber Jack Pellets by the pallet for about $7 a bag for myself and friends.
I’ve still got about 600 lbs in reserve.
Unfortunately my supplier retired so I need to find a new source for reasonably priced pellets.

There are a dozen stores within about 20 minutes driving time that have pellets, and are open 7 days a week. Why do I need to stockpile?

I keep one bag in reserve. I’m no fan of longtime storage on pellets.

I keep like three 5-gallon buckets on hand which is usually around 60lbs, and then a couple bags of whatever was on sale are usually floating around the garage somewhere. But at least the three buckets full.

Kettle and gas grill as needed. I prefer not to run a grill that needs electricity in the rain.

I have a GMG and I have a spare pellet igniter

I don’t trust stock, I have 12 x 20 lbs in waiting. If you find something you like stock up.

I’m still working off my initial 240lb order. TBF .. it’s my wife. I got the grill in Nov .. never had a PG before. I was reading about some ppl liking Bear Mtn pellets .. I looked at reviews and ya … so then I look to see where I can get them near me. Farm & Fleet (SE Wi) right down the street had them for a great price . I went online and natch, they had 1 bag left of the competition blend and 1 of hickory .. so got one of ea. My wife hears “deal” and looks at another F&F like 45min from us .. and buys them out … well 4 more bags … all these 40lbs … so .. I guess at some point I’ll need some but …
