An appropriate length of sandwich. Hope you don’t have to share too much!

Yes! Simplicity at its finest. Love a jambon beurre, and this one looks perfect!

I initially thought it was called Jason Bourne

This was the first thing my Grandfather had to eat in Paris after the War ended. Unbeknownst to me it was his favorite thing to eat for the rest of his life. When I was five years old he made me one for lunch for the first time. I have eaten one almost everyday for 33 years.

At times, only the simplest ingredients are necessary. I bet you can taste every single flavor and texture.

    Enjoy!

  6. Once upon a time I was in Avignon with a small child (5ish) who wanted a ham sandwich. We sat in a cafe in the plaza, I ordered a glass of wine and a jambon buerre for the hungry child. To this day we laugh about the sandwich that was longer than her arm! And so simple and delicious.

My husband and I went to Paris for our anniversary. We had this absolutely AMAZING ham sandwich on baguette, it just blew our damn minds. Couldn’t stop thinking about it, and figured it had to be the delicious mayonnaise(?) they spread on it, very different from American mayo, and just out of this world with the simplicity and deliciousness. Got back home and put two and two together that the “mayo” was butter and we had this exact sandwich! We still laugh about it, while making jambon buerre for dinner at home 🫠

Joint king of sandwiches, along with the venerable BLT.

Thank you for posting this because I just purchased this cookbook for half off!!!

One of the greatest and simplest delights. Doesn’t just work on a baguette, though. Had the same ham and butter combo in Amsterdam on a firm roll, and the cold glass of milk served with it took it to 11.

Then again, I was high off my nuts….

  11. I love this cookbook! But with the weather I’m mostly in the soup section at the moment

I like this, but swap the butter for Brie.. basically all I did in France, bread shop, then get ham and Brie and just prepare it on the road.
