We always like checking out at least one of Stiles Switch’s 12 Days of Smoked Meat specials every year. Today’s is a 3-3.5 lb smoked tomahawk ribeye with a good sized baked potato. $110, so not exactly cheap, but it’ll make two meals for my wife and me and I thought that was reasonable considering the cost of quality tomahawk ribeyes. It was excellent.

picture of the cook? lol
Show us the inside!!!
Looks good. Pricey but a special treat I’m sure
I went last year for the brisket flautas- excellent
When?! Will this be coming back? Fuck.
You know, per lb, this is pretty much the same price as their normal bbq. Like $35 a lb
Where was this post 45 minutes ago when I started braising a peposo? I’d be there right now.
I’ve had stiles once but I thought their barbecue sauce was just awful, super watery. Maybe just the specific time I went
Edit: this was apparently controversial lol. I always use bbq sauce to dip all the meats in and to make little white bread/pickle/onion sandwiches, just the way I’ve always done it I thought everyone did that.
That’s actually a totally reasonable price for that clod o meats.
Honestly $110 for two really good bbq meals for two people is a solid deal these days. If I go to interstellar with my spouse after taxes and tip we always end up at around $75 usd for a single meal
damn dude. That looks awesome
If you’re in Austin and you want damn good BBQ with little to no wait any time of day, Stiles is king. And relatively affordable compared to the more lauded joints in the area.
These guys have some of the best wings in town too
I miss bbq being for us working class poors. Bbq more gentrification than the east side.
I always forget about their 12 days of Christmas special until they’re halfway finished. Definitely grabbing some tamales this weekend.
That’s why I stopped going there several years ago. Their prices got outrageous and their quality and consistency were deteriorating. I walked out my last few meals there feeling unhappy and disappointed. And $110 for a Tomahawk is not a special. But more power to ya if you liked it.
I haven’t been to Stiles Switch in forever, since I moved out to Pville, but they were a favorite when I lived nearby.
I had them cater my wedding, and I really thought the food they served was A LOT better than what they serve in the restaurant. Hard to say, though, because obviously I wasn’t going to be capable of being objective that day. But A LOT better than something that’s already a favorite, says a lot.
Going tomorrow for the short rib!
For $110 I’d honestly say that’s a really good deal. At any good steakhouse that’s costing you easily over $150.
Every year I’m like nope but this year I decided it was time. It’s only for me and it’s quite excessive for 1. But i did it anyway. It’s going to take me several days to eat this monster. Incredibly good though.
Had their “moist” brisket yesterday, it’s was tough and dry. Never again…
I had stiles switch about 8 years ago or so and it was dry. They gave you sauce at the line which is a red flag for good bbq. Sides were alright but nobody gets bbq for the sides. Also an awful name.
