So i have all my seeds in baggies and moist paper towels trying to germinate them before putting them in trays. I just added a towel in between but prior the main tray was sitting right on the heat mat. And the seed baggies are all laying inside. Digital thermometer also said about 100. I’m assuming after two days they are probably cooked. I should of done my due diligence and put a regular on the mat. There goes half the seeds of all 14 varieties i just bought.

maybe, maybe not. You should know in a week. Top of the fridge is a good place to put your seeds usong the paper towel method.

Not necessarily. Depends what you’re growing. I know some species of pepper do better in temperatures 85F+. 100F shouldn’t kill them as long as they have water.

If they were moist, it should be fine.

Some of us dry peppers in the oven at 160F and the seeds from them are good to grow

I used to use the back top tube vents on my CRT monitors decades ago for bottom heating sealed germination tubs or baggies with pepper seeds in wet paper towels. I’m positive they got over 100F. Had great success.

I don’t think you have, s9me heat will bevlost as it travels up, as long as you keep mix moist. I evwn use radiators to germinate, so this is nothing. Keep waiting.

I’ve started seeds in South Florida at around those temps during the summer.

Open one up man. You should be able to tell right away. I thought the same thing and was about to place another order of seeds. They are all doing good

I’ve read 120 is the kill point. That being said, we hit 120+ in Phoenix, I used to garden at a community garden that would leave seeds in a shed and probably easily reached well over 140 and seeds still germinated.

I had so many problems germinating pepper seeds successfully, and then I just bought one of those seed heater mats off Amazon with the temperature probe/thermostat. Now I keep them moist, covered and set to 29°C and never had a problem again.
