Feels like this is missing something but can’t decide what, maybe flowers or a border? Any ideas?

i feel like a border of sprinkles along the coloured edges might look pretty rad?

No border/s, IMO. It’ll ruin the beautiful work you’ve done and also break up the design.
I think the design speaks for itself and is super cool – no need to add anything else, unless it’s getting a plaque, which you could add to the blank space. I can tell you put a lot of time into it! It’s beautiful.
My best suggestion is a different color board, but I understand that may not be an option at this point. Alternatively, if you are adding a message, you could add it to the board versus the cake itself, which will help break up the contrasting whites.

Its looking pretty cool! I wonder if you piped on a thin black outline of the shapes and then filled in the center and with a colored glaze. This can be done using thinned out frosting diluted essentially with corn syrup (colored). Then if you have any colored candy melts, make some cool looking free form. Im getting a 70’s vibe! I like what you started!

Tbh I think the issue is the color of the cake board. It draws more attention to the white spaces on the cake and makes the white space look larger. A different color board would help a lot (or a border just around the bottom of the cake if the board can’t be changed, to break up the white)

I think you need some visual depth. Right now it’s very flat. Could you extend some of the design upward so it’s not flat on the cake? Make boxes that look like the design in a small pile on top? I love the simplicity of it right now so trying to think of a minimalist approach.

IMO less is more. Where I work we use gold boards under the cake and that contrast makes my white cakes pop more.

you know those edible gold dust that they mix with alcohol and paint? if you paint the edge between the stripes and the white it would be 🔥

Maybe a black border around the coloured areas?

I think it looks great, but it does look like it’s missing something. If you’re experimenting, what about adding a thin black line to outline the edges of the cake? As in: around the base, up the base point of the heart, and around the top edge? That might set it off from the white board (which I agree would look better in another color).

I really like it.

Just border the sprinkle corners leave the white alone then it will look too busy it’s a great cake as is tbh

This is beautiful and I love it just the way it is

I agree the person who said to change the cake board. I think the bright royal/primary blue color would be great for the board (better than the lighter colors for more contrast)
I also think a blue thin boarder line, in that darker blue, on the edges would look nice but that would take a very steady hand to look good and hay the good lord help you if you make a mistake, and would achieve the same thing that a blue board would but the board would be at much less time and effort cost and much less room for error

I would do a single any-colored clamshell border around the bottom edge to clean up the line where the colors meet the cake board
GirlwthCurls
Maybe a 3-D heart that stands up in the white part of the cake?
Hault99
I think it looks good as is.

I agree that a different cake board would help. I might also suggest piping a fine line of icing along the very edge of the white on top. It looks really cool as is. 😻

I agree with the cake board suggestion

This is unusual and I love it. A piece of art.

More of the same pattern running up to the edge of the right side, maybe even floating vertically, to give more of a sense of movement, that the exposed patch of frosting is either closing in or opening up.
TheFatThunderCat
Maybe some black drips

Perhaps a gold border? Or a gold/black cake board. Regardless of what you do, your cake is beautiful!
