The Goods from Gotham Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar

Vancouver, BC | Mark your calendars for an early-evening gathering built around good wine, good food, and support for the next wave of culinary and hospitality professionals.

In early February, Gotham Steakhouse & Bar is hosting La Dolce Vita, an Italian wine night built around standout bottles from Castello Banfi, Italian-leaning bites from the Gotham kitchen, and a generous carvery showcasing Canadian prime beef paired with Tuscan reds. At $125, it’s a rare chance to taste seriously good wine, eat well, and spend a couple of hours in good company without overthinking it.

Banfi is donating the wine for the evening, and the lineup leans into some of their most respected bottlings, making this year’s event particularly strong from a wine perspective.

For the wine lovers: The evening’s selections move from crisp coastal whites through Chianti Classico and Bolgheri reds, and into serious Brunello territory. Expect La Pettegola Vermentino for freshness up front, followed by Sangiovese-driven wines from Rosso di Montalcino and Gran Selezione Chianti Classico, before deeper, structured bottles like ASKA Bolgheri Rosso and Magna Cum Laude Toscana IGT. The lineup culminates with Poggio alle Mura Brunello di Montalcino and a Brunello Grappa Riserva, rounding out a tasting that shows both range and balance.  Come with colleagues, bring friends, or show up solo and settle in. Gotham’s room does the rest.

The evening also supports the John Aisenstat Memorial Scholarship, established by Vancouver Community College in memory of John Aisenstat, son of Hy Aisenstat and former executive vice-president of Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar. Created to recognise academic achievement and support students pursuing careers in culinary and hospitality arts, the scholarship reflects John’s long-standing commitment to post-secondary education and the industry he cared deeply about. Proceeds from the night go directly toward supporting a VCC student as they enter the field.

Tickets are $125, with wine, food, and a tax receipt included. Further event details are available via Gotham, with ticket purchases directed through VCC.
