Using this holiday break to check off some restaurant items that have been burning a hole on my list.

Last night’s trip was to Amboy in Chinatown for the famed DH burger. For the unfamiliar it’s a 10oz dry aged patty. I got it served Amboy style so that’s with burger sauce, American cheese, caramelized onions, sliced pickles, on a sesame bun.

As you can see from the photo, it’s a beast of a burger. The sear on the patty itself was great. Almost crunchy and became a district textural element. The rest of the burger toppings were melty, savory, and delicious.

This might be controversial, but I wish it had some lettuce and tomato. It’s such a rich burger that a bit of crisp crunch would balance it better.

Total: $21 + tax/tip
