As the endless drudgery of dry January continues, there’s finally something to look forward to. The Vancouver International Wine Festival has announced its 47th edition, with the main event taking place March 7-14 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Over 113 wineries from 14 countries will descend on Vancouver for the weeklong celebration, which will also feature tastings and showcase events around the city. In the spotlight this year will be France, with 27 wineries from nine different regions participating in the festival.

Offerings from Beaujolais and Bordeaux will be front-and-centre in what’s dubbed the Vancouver International Wine Festival’s Grand Tasting Room. A Vive la France wine bar will host regional tasting stations, with events designed to highlight French culture and cuisine.

For those looking to expand their horizons, Passport to Global Wines will dive into varietals from eight wine-producing countries around the globe, and a Classic & Contemporary Australia trade seminar will have Aussie industry expert Mark Davidson outlining new viticulture practices that are redefining the land Down Under.

“Whether you’re in the trade or a curious novice, you will walk away smarter, more confident, and more excited about wine,” said Vancouver International Wine Festival spokeswoman Christine Campbell. “It’s learning disguised as pure pleasure.”
