  1. One of my favorite classic comforts foods. I freeze my summer tomatoes for the sole purpose of making tomato soup. So good!! thank you for not adding basil! I am just not a fan of it in my tomato soup. Chives or green onions like you have I’m all about that.
I like how you made that grilled cheese !, now I know why my bread always gets too greasy as I butter the outside of the bread because that’s what my mom did😂 i’m gonna do it your way next time so it can be crispy and not greasy. Thank you for that tip. Yum! I have enough tomatoes left now to make tomato soup and it’s gonna be like this.
I just used a lot of of them recently to make homemade beef vegetable soup, which I do not regret😂

  2. I am so happy that you have a youtube chanel. Hands down best chef! I totally look forward to every new video.

  3. Game changer: I shred my cheese then I add a little mayo and cream cheese to create a paste. Spread it on the bread and fry as usual. This technique creates the cheese to puff. Now you have a thick sandwich vs. a thin one.

  4. I’ve always been a fan of yours! As a vegetarian, this is a favorite comfort meal. People need to know how simple it is to cook at home. 😍

  5. Love these cooking videos! Will miss you on the kitchen so much . If you use a blender that is a vacuum blender the tomato soup will be much deeper red because it won’t have all the bubbles in it. I have a tribest reverse vacuum blender and love it for this type of application

  6. In my home growing up we used the ball mozzarella sliced thinly, buttered outside only, and put a lid on pan so cheese would melt. You could add prosciutto or pancetta. It is a Naples sandwich and called "Mozzarella in Carrozza". Delicious.

  7. Butter on the outside – Not a big fan of Mozzarella or American cheese. Prefer Provolone, mild Cheddar, or on occasion grated Manchego.
That's a tomato soup recipe I'm going to have to try!

  8. I put cheese in my tomato soup. Never knew tho you could make soup in just a blender. I am definitely gonna try that soup recipe. Thanx Alex.

  9. Alex! Can I just spend a long weekend cooking with you❤!! Delish!! And, I'm so sorry and upset about no more 'The Kitchen' !! Every weekend, I tell my husband that I'm going to need some time to do my R&D..Research and Development, watching that show, writing down recipes etc!! 😢

  10. I love a diagonal cut! That’s how my Mom always cut sandwiches. She thought it looked fancy and we did too! 😊

  11. I recently tried a “grown up grilled cheese” and it has grilled onion and fig jam on it…. With the tomato soup on the side. SO GOOD. it’s sweet and savory.

  12. That cheese pull! I am a grilled cheese aficionado and you just gave me ideas. That tomato soup looks delicious. I certainly will give scallions a try. Sounds good.

  13. Love everything about this and love watching you cook! I just put grilled cheese and tomato soup on my dinner list for this week. The algorithm is working overtime.

  14. Alex, I don’t know if you’ll see this but I used to watch “the best thing I ever ate” PURELY to see your picks and hear you describe your choices. You have a way with words that made watching food tv enjoyable for me! It was fun to see the food, of course, but then you described the food in a way that probably 99% of people wouldn’t know how to do—and this made it even MORE fun because you got more than a visual. You could almost taste what you were eating because the way you described the food was so awesome. Like someone painting a watercolor but with words. Long story short, thank you. I still think about this show and you describing food to this day. Whenever I need to talk about food to someone, I always pause and think about what I’m going to say, out of the box, too, so I can convey things better. 💛

  15. How come she throws in salt at every stage and it's chef level, but when I do that it's so salty you can't eat it?

  16. This recipe is speaking my happy place! I have never put butter on the inside of a grilled cheese. May I ask why butter goes on the inside? Is it just a taste thing or does it help with the Browning and crisping?

  17. Kitchen crew was on the Drew Barrymore show today. I MISSED SEEING YOU!!!!!
I stopped watching KITCHEN LONG ago because i cant stand the very sight of Sunny. Shes a spoiled child brat with only child syndrome who always needs attention. So needless to say, wont miss it.
Im pretty sure shes a big part of why the show has ended. Im not the ONLY one who feels this way.
Now that she seems to be part of recurring "Drew Crew" i have no doubt drews ratings will go down.
    Anyway im glad youre HERE

  18. I made both the tomato soup and cheese sandwich for dinner. The tomato soup was easy and very delicious. The grilled cheese was super fun. Thank you for sharing the recipes.

  19. I'll just live vicariously through those luscious crunches you made in that sandwich – oh my word. I looove a grilled cheese, one of my favorite foods ever ever ever, and I am glad that there are dairy-free American versions out there that make a passable grilled cheese. Nothing like yours, though, holy cow!!
