1. What’s your favorite local spot to eat?

To be honest, I don’t go out much, but when I do, it is usually somewhere that is kid-friendly. Dan & Days is a standby in our house.

2. What’s your favorite ingredient to cook with — and how does it shine in each season?

Whatever is seasonal. The turn of the seasons has always been a form of inspiration for me.

3. What’s one ingredient you secretly (or not-so-secretly) can’t stand?

Green peppers. I will only eat them in Creole cooking. Otherwise, no way!

4. Tell us about a meal you’ll never forget.

Maison Lameloise in Chagny, France (about 30 years ago). It was over-the-top decadent, but the sommelier poured some incredible wines. I almost cancelled the lunch because my suit was wrinkled and I didn’t want to be disrespectful to the chef. Jacques Lameloise was one of my superheroes.

5. When you’re off the clock — not in the kitchen — how do you like to spend your time?

I’m with my kids or playing music.
