Hi guys I live in central Fl, few weeks ago decided to get a tomatoe plant. It had been doing fine, last week i went and cut some leaves that were touching the soil bc I was told that was not good. I went out to check on the plant today after a few days to water and notice that it has brown spots all over, its blooming a few new tomatoes and the leaves at the very top arent affected yet but most of the leaves have brown spots and some look like theyre dying what can i do for this? Im new to gardening, thank you!

The pot looks too small, what size is it?

That’s what mine look like if fall when it gets cold and we have heavy dew. Has it been cool or cold there at night? Are the leaves staying wet for long period of time?

The pot loos really small and the plant might be stressed – opening it up to disease.

The dying leaves don’t look diseased, which is good. Based on the smaller look of the pot and the fact that you hadn’t watered for a few days, I’d think the pot got a bit too dry. The plant has a lot of leaves now which all need to stay moist while transpiring at the same time, so try checking the moisture levels every day. If you lift the pot a tiny bit and it’s light, it’s running out of water. There should always be some heft since water is heavy.

  4. Pot is too small for one thing. The plant is also showing signs of nutrient deficiency. Time to pot up and fertilize.

Since it’s Florida I’m leaning towards TSWV or the related virus that can cause those spots.
Spread by thrips who thrive in warm Florida winters.

Should not be dangerous at this age.
