It drinks like a structured, quietly powerful white Rioja, showing golden-hued notes of lemon peel and waxy citrus, dried herbs and chamomile, toasted nuts and a gentle smoky-oak savoriness, all wrapped around a chalky texture and a long, salty finish.

white viña tondonia is an unsung treasure, imo. glad you enjoyed it! I was able to have a gran reserva blanco from 1987 last year, and it still slapped — the way that these wines welcome oxidation and age is unique and awesome.

Great price for a restaurant! The Tondonia Blancos are becoming even more difficult to find in the US, with them even selling at auction for 2-3x retail. Sadly was not able to find any this past year. I’ve had the 12′ and 13′ and they were great. Would definitely order a 14′ at a restaurant to try for $120.
