Nothing better than fresh sourdough and a modest amount of butter

Make your own cultured butter and change your life. Basically cream with a couple spoonfuls of plain unpasteurized yogurt. Sit it out overnight, chill for a day, then whip it until it breaks. Rinse, salt, and chill.

The buttermilk left over is amazing for pancakes or cornbread.

Had it this morning but a little less butter. 🙂

Modest? That looks generous to me and I fully support this. Yum!

Absolutely obligatory after baking a fresh beauty! I’m not a huge jam guy, but a drop of jam (not spread) on some fresh, buttered sourdough, little pinch of salt. One of the best snacks out

I too like bread with my butter

Not to be Debbie Downer, but my friend who said that bread products were no good unless slathered with butter died of a heart attack before he turned 60. Good bread really doesn’t need anything more, and as a friend once pointed out, a lot of what we like about the taste of butter is the added salt. Try putting unsalted butter on your bread and see if you agree.

It needs more butter but otherwise is perfect

  11. A sprinkle of Maldon salt is the icing on the bread

Kinda skimpy if ya ask me. Is there a new plague that destroys the butter cow?

    Yeeeea-ha-ha! Trowel it on!!!!
I would argue that the only thing better is fresh sourdough bread with your own homemade butter. Now that is next level. I speak from experience.
