Swiss-based premium frozen-food group IDAK Food Group has confirmed it is in talks to acquire French artisanal frozen-patisserie and -snacking specialist Group Onoré.
This move will allow IDAK, which already has operations in Switzerland and Italy, to boost its baked goods & patisserie category and enter the French and UK markets.
IDAK plans to acquire a majority stake in Onoré from its management and Waterland Private Equity, which has supported the company’s growth through acquisitions over the past three years.
The transaction is anticipated to close in the first half of 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals.
Toulouse-based Onoré, with over 1,000 employees, operates five production sites in France and two in the UK.
It produces a wide range of high-quality frozen bakery products, snacks, Cornish pasties, pastries, and other desserts for leading catering chains, independent restaurants, coffee shops, and retailers.
In France, Onoré’s portfolio includes Boncolac (baked goods, pastries, mochis and snacks) and Mag’M (premium macarons).
In the UK, it includes Proper Cornish (Cornish pasties and puff pastry specialities) and Cakesmiths (artisanal cakes for coffee shops).
The company generated sales of over €220 million in 2025.
For its part, IDAK Food Group specialises in pizza and snacks, finger food and potato snacks, and baked goods and patisserie.
Its current portfolio includes pizza and snacks from Margherita and Sorrento Sapori e Tradizioni, both in in Italy, finger food and potato snacks from Kadi, and baked goods and patisserie from Romer’s Hausbäckerei (including Kern & Sammet) in Switzerland.
In 2025, the group employed approximately 1,300 people and generated sales of over CHF 330 million (€351 million).
