CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio is ranked sixth in U.S. wine production, according to Genuwine Cellars.

In Ohio, annual wine production reached 5,779,222 gallons, accounting for 0.78% of total U.S. output, according to the site, which focuses on luxury wine-cellar design and construction.

The study analyzed annual wine-production data for 2024-25. Data is sourced from World Population Review, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, state agricultural agencies and industry statistics.

“Wine production in America tells a fascinating regional story,” Robb Denomme, founder and CEO of Genuwine Cellars, said in a press release. “Understanding where wine comes from helps collectors and enthusiasts make better decisions about what they store and how they build their cellars.”

The findings come at a time when American wine consumption is diversifying, the site said. High-production regions tend to offer broader allocations and price ranges, while smaller regions often produce limited-run varietals that require different storage strategies. Production volume also means better availability.

All of those factors tell a broader American wine story, giving flexibility to those building collections, according to the site.
