Lacha Somtum for Christmas lunch in Thai Town. We ordered deep fried trout with green apple, onion, chili, and lime juice on the side, somtum with salted black crab, bowl of egg noodles with wonton and barbecue pork, pad krapow with ground chicken, and pork jerky. It has been awhile since we ate here. They offer several varieties of somtum or Thai papaya salad. Sweet, sour, spicy, or combinations of those taste preferences. Authentic Thai dishes served here and a go to for local Thais. Lacha Somtum also offers Thai hot pot but this is better with 3-4 more people. There is only street parking and Jumbo’s Clown Room is two doors down. Bangluck market and Sanamluang is across the street. Happy holidays to all.

What a joy and privilege it is to have Thai town in Los Angeles. Thai places in other non-Thai heavy cities (with the only exception being Las Vegas) don’t have a good balance of sweet, sour, spicy, and salty. They just make it more sweet and more spicy,

This is a gem of a Thai restaurant that’s not frequently mentioned, but oh so good! I had the same stuff as what OP ordered; on top of those, their shrimp paste fried rice and roasted duck curry are to die for

  4. Severely underrated Thai restaurant! Their fried larb and beef jerky is so so good
