My Dad tried growing capsicums but this is how big they turned out, they came from just standard red capsicum seeds but they all turned out tiny, kinda funny but they taste just like regular capsicums. Kinda cool but thought I would share! This is my first post in this sub 🙂

That looks like a cherry (hot) pepper. What is a standard capsicum, a sweet bell pepper?

If you saved the seed from shop bought peppers then there is a chance that the plants were an F1 hybrid meaning the seeds wont come true to the fruit. However I grow peppers just like that for pickling and stuffing – Ñora peppers!

I bought some sweet bell pepper seeds from Burpee that were supposed to be a variety of bells and only a couple plants out of the pack produced bell peppers. I looked into it and found peppers aren’t the best for pollinating themselves and prone to hybridization. Either Burpee wasn’t careful enough doing the hybridization – or keeping the mother plants to not hybridize. That’s what I think but not totally sure.
