And it’s not even close, like 5X hotter than Scorpion, if you measure Scoville. Why does Scorpion hit so hard?

Scorpion peppers are my favorite. The flavor of them is much better to me than ghost or reaper. So I’m always biased towards scorpion sauces. On top of the flavor profiles, reaper is just too dang hot for me.

Yeah the reaper is way hotter.

You say the reaper is 5x hotter, but then ask why the scorpion hits so hard? It’s less to do with reaper vs scorpion, and more to do with how much pepper is actually used in the sauce.

I haven’t had scorpion tabasco in a while, but I’m pretty sure garlic reaper is much hotter.

For sauces, the Scoville scale doesn’t really apply. The Tabasco Scorpion sauce is reportedly 50,000 scoville units. This is obviously different than what the raw pepper has been measured at. I don’t believe the reaper sauce has ever been measured. Subjectively though, a raw Habanero feels hotter than reaper sauce to me.
There is too much processing, dilution, and spice taming ingredients for the Scoville scale to be useful for sauces.

Yes. Both are great sauces btw.

It’s tough, I’d say Reaper lasts longer heat wise but Scorpion hits harder. I prefer Scorpion but that’s just because I seem to be in a phase lately where I’m not into garlic sauces. I tend to prefer fruitier ones. My last buy was Melinda’s XXXtra Hot, which has some lime in it. It’s delicious.

Most scoville ratings on hot sauces are a lie, a majority of them list the scoville rating of the pepper and not the actual sauce itself. I think the Tabasco Scorpion is actually an example of an honest scoville rating.

Tabasco is mainstream watered down crap, of course it’s not as hot.

I think the tabasco scorpion comes out swinging and punches you in the mouth, where the garlic reaper gives you a lot of flavor while the heat builds on the back end, like getting locked into a submission hold
ArgieBee
Yes. Much hotter.

Torchbearer isn’t fermented like the Tabasco. The fermentation process brings the heat down a little. Scorpion peppers, or at least the variety Tabasco grows, also aren’t nearly as hot as Carolina Reapers.

Yes, by far. And that says a lot.

I personally find the reaper way hotter than the scorpion.

Idk I like garlic reaper but tobasco scorpion is too hot for me to enjoy. Scorpion peppers kill me.

When you say “if you measure scoville”, what exactly are you referring to?

Torchbearer’s Garlic Reaper is soooo damn good. Beautiful flavor, soooo damn spicy. Could barely enjoy it personally. But great stuff!

I remember I got downvoted because I said that garlic reaper was a lot hotter than Tabasco scorpion. I was being generous and said at least 2x the spice of Tabasco scorpion.

I would say that Torchbearer is hotter, but more tolerable. Tabasco Scorpion hits immediately on the front of my face and makes my lips hurt. Torchbearer is “back of the head” hot and takes time to build.
