When we talk about iconic sandwiches, it feels like a crime not to mention the Italian beef dip. This combination of slow-cooked, thinly sliced beef, giardiniera, and peppers stuffed into a roll (and, of course, a cup of au jus for dipping) has been a local favorite for the good folks of Chicago for generations. Still, FX’s The Bear took things to a brand new level. Now, millions of people tune in to watch Carmy and the gang crank out Italian beef dip sandwiches to the hungry hordes, while their hunger levels get higher and higher.

If you’re not in Chicago, though, it can be hard to find Italian beef sandwiches anywhere, and you might be struggling to figure out what you should eat while watching the show. Well, that’s all about to change. Arby’s has recently announced the debut of an all-new Italian Beef Sandwich on its menu, available for a limited time. Get it while it’s hot.

The Arby’s Italian Beef Dip Sandwich Is a Spin On a Classic

Arby’s Italian Beef Dip Sandwich has all of the components that you’d expect on one of these iconic sandwiches, and then some. Each sub roll is packed with its best roast beef, which is cooked for four hours for maximum tenderness. Arby’s then takes its sandwich in a new direction by topping the beef with melted Swiss cheese. Cheese isn’t usually part of the classic beef dip experience, but honestly? We don’t doubt for a second that it makes it even tastier.

Arby’s then tops its Italian Beef Dip Sandwich with pickled Vienna Giardiniera and hot peppers, giving the sandwich a boost of much-needed flavor contrast. Each customer receives a cup of au jus (which you can also make at home by grabbing some beef consomme—and we’ve taste-tested the best) with their sandwich, so you can dunk it to your heart’s content before each bite. Yuuum.

Arby’s Introduced Its Italian Beef Dip Sandwich with a Starry Ad Campaign

Every new sandwich needs a face to front it, and for its Italian Beef Dip, Arby’s went to everyone’s current favorite form of reality TV personality: housewives. To launch the sandwich, the restaurant tapped Whitney Leavitt of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives fame for a brand new commercial. In the ad, Leavitt is seen swatting up on her Chicago knowledge (and accent) before taking a bite of the new dish.

At first glance, casting Leavitt in the commercial doesn’t quite scan (she’s from Utah, after all), but when you remember that she’s due to join the cast of Chicago on Broadway at the beginning of February, suddenly it all falls into place.
