Have you ever visited Farmer and Frenchman in Henderson County? It’s just off Highway 41, and it’s a venue that wears a lot of hats. First, like I said, it’s an event venue, but it’s also a vineyard, a winery, and a cafe.
Farmer and Frenchman
Katy Groves-Mussat (a Henderson County native) and her husband Hubert (originally from Paris, France) have parlayed their love of wine into a popular restaurant serving up delectable farm-to-table offerings in Robards, Kentucky. Your visit may also be accompanied by a wine tasting. We visited a few years ago, and it was extraordinary. This was our experience.
As you can probably tell, Farmer and Frenchman is quite a popular wedding venue, too. What you can’t tell from the video is what lies beneath Farmer and Frenchman. This is something I didn’t know when we were there.
Farmer and Frenchman and Those Crazy Beautiful Mushrooms
I’m not sure if you’d call growing mushrooms in your home a garden (I searched it and got vague results), but that’s what Katy and Hubert have under the property’s yoga studio. If, at first glance, you thought you were looking at an art gallery, that would be understandable. Here’s why.
I absolutely love mushrooms, but I always thought they were just dirty little organisms that transform into amazing side dishes, appetizers, or pizza toppings. Little did I know, right? Just look at those beauties.
So what are they? From the top left, we have Lion’s Mane, pink oyster, Italian oyster, Antler Reishi, and blue oyster mushrooms. Dive further into the post and you’ll see more varieties of oyster mushrooms, including King Oysters. The details on the lunch and dinner menus indicate which dishes incorporate their home-cultivated mushrooms.
Farmer and Frenchman updates its menu seasonally.
