I did a little video to show how I plan on using my 26 kettle as my primary smoker. Utilizing the Hunsaker rotisserie insert in conjuction with the Lava Lock fire dial it opens up the entire rack for smoking giving me full use of the charcoal area for charcoal and wood chunks or splits. If the rack didn't have handles I could have just laid the fire dial on top. It didn't like the handles so I laid it under the cooking grate sitting on the same little support lips. Being the fire dial is not extremely thick, I used a bolt, washers, and some nuts to use the center hole on the fire dial and the grate sitting on top to give the fire dial support in the center to prevent warping. It was cheaper than buying a 26 inch handleless grate. First run the fire dial laid on top of the charcoal. This opens up more room to breathe and hopefully give me a cleaner burn. Don't beat me up too bad. I just love tinkering and getting the most out of my equipment.

Thanks for posting this. Any plans to do some direct heat cooking?
