Squeeze as much of the bottle as you can to bring the liquid as high as you can in the bottle, leaving as little air as possible on the top. Then, screw the cap as hard as you can.

The fizz usually leaves the liquid to enter the lower pressure air area, so if you remove that, the fizz stays.

This wouldn't have been possible with the bottles that were used in my youth, but th6is new flimsy bottles work great.

  1. Oh no, this wont work. The carbon dioxide will just be released from the liquid and refill/reinflate the bottle.

The only way is to fill the bottle to a pressure high enough that the co2 cannot be released from the liquid.

Great way to get some extra micro plastics in there too. Yum.

Also keeping them cold helps, the rate of degassing is also temp related

Myth busters did experiment and it showed no difference.

This is the exact opposite of what you should do. You need to close the bottle without any space for the gas to expand into.
