Meet Pete’s Place, a beloved spot for heartwarming Italian meals in Grand Hyatt Singapore. We know two reasons why you should visit Fortuna. Firstly, the founders are serving looks. But they’re not just pretty faces. The trio dish out Italian plates that are so good, you’ll be tempted to ask for their numbers – for the food, of course. Think authentic Southern Italian flavours, with a focus on Sicilian and Neapolitan cuisine. 6. Torno Subito
Photography: Sufyan Saad
As far as vibey establishments go, this spot wins hands down. From the vibrant colours and quirky decor throughout the space to the flashy automobiles displayed at the entrance, Torno Subito is the antithesis of what an Italian restaurant in Singapore should look like. What drew our attention was the restroom, reminiscent of the Brighton bathing boxes in Melbourne.
Take a seat and let the menu transport you through the Italian Riviera, divided into five sections. You can never go wrong with pasta, and here, we highly recommend the tortellino (miniature stuffed pasta in parmigiano reggiano sauce, $48) and tagliatella ($39). The stuffed pasta is creamy and indulgent, and before we knew it, we’d already cleared the entire plate.
It’s not an Italian feast until you chow down on a pizza or two, so go ahead and pick from diavola, prosciutto crudo and the like. The Tiramisubito ($22) – a decadent blend of coffee, mascarpone, and cacao – is one of the best tiramisus in Singapore we’ve had. And no, that’s not hyperbole.
Best for: For a fun, vibrant and playful dining experience
Must-try dishes: Tortellino; tagliatella; diavola pizza; Tiramisubito

What are some commonly found Italian dishes in Singapore?
You can find a wide variety of classic Italian dishes. Pasta is a staple, with options ranging from traditional carbonara to handmade tagliatelle. Wood-fired pizzas are also very popular, as are hearty main courses like risotto and bistecca. For dessert, tiramisu is a must-try classic at most restaurants.
Can I find vegetarian or gluten-free options at Italian restaurants?
Many Italian restaurants in Singapore can accommodate dietary restrictions. Dishes like aglio e olio are naturally vegetarian, and most menus offer multiple pasta or pizza options without meat. Some restaurants can also modify dishes upon request.
What is the difference between a trattoria, osteria and ristorante in Singapore?
In Singapore’s Italian dining scene, these terms define the atmosphere and price point. A ristorante typically offers a formal, fine dining experience with a sophisticated menu and extensive wine list. A trattoria is a mid-range, family-style eatery focused on tradition and hearty portions. An osteria traditionally refers to a simple wine bar that serves local snacks, but in Singapore, many modern osterias offer premium, specialised dining in a casual setting. Knowing the distinction helps you choose the right venue for your occasion!
How do I choose between Northern and Southern Italian cuisine in Singapore?
This depends on your flavour preference. Northern Italian cuisine (such as in Milan and Piedmont) is often richer, featuring creamy risottos, polenta, butter-based sauces and hearty meats like veal. Southern Italian cuisine (like in Sicily and Puglia) is lighter and more vibrant, characterised by ingredients like sun-ripened tomatoes, fresh seafood and spicy peppers, and heavy use of extra virgin olive oil. Tip: look for restaurants that specify their regional heritage if you want a specific flavour profile!
