After more than two years of anticipation, Carmine’s, one of Chicago’s most iconic Italian restaurants, is set to reopen in the Gold Coast next week. This reopening ushers in a new era for the storied dining destination.
Carmine’s has a whole new look
While Carmine’s has always captured the essence of classic Italian-American dining, its revival introduces a refreshed atmosphere and new energy, including new occuping a stunning second-floor space above Rush Street.
Upon entering, guests are welcomed by interiors that balance deep, moody tones with rich wood finishes and brass detailing. Plush leather banquettes and artful lighting create a timeless supper club atmosphere.
Large windows overlook Rush Street and Mariano Park, flooding the dining room with natural light during the day and transforming it into an intimate, glowing setting at night.
The restaurant features multiple distinct spaces, including a main dining room, a 40-seat private dining area, and a four-season, enclosed terrace offering year-round views of the Gold Coast.

Carmine’s is returning with the Rosebud Classics, including Square Noodles, Homemade Eight-Finger Cavatelli, Meatball Salad, Mama Maria’s Famous Braciole, and Carmine’s signature lineup of Parmesan specialties.
At the heart of nearly every pasta dish is Carmine’s red sauce. It’s made fresh daily at the Rosebud commissary and simmered for depth and balance. Rest assured, the flavor is the same as before—mouthwatering and sweet.
If you’re more inclined toward a meaty meal, you’ll be happy to hear that all steaks are sourced from a local butcher and cut exclusively to Carmine’s specifications, including an 18-ounce USDA Prime strip steak and a showstopping 48-ounce, three-pound Steak Florentine, prepared tableside for a dramatic dining experience.
The price range is expected to be between $31 and $90
