We used to enjoy getting McDonald's sausage egg muffins but they are now selling it for $5.50 each in our town in CA. I made my own using Trader Joe's English muffins. I pan fried everything including the muffin and the muffin came out soft like McDonald's.

1 Muffin ($0.33) + 1 egg ($0.30) + 1 sliced colby cheese ($0.20) + 2 oz bulk sausage ($0.50) + butter = $1.40

Recipe:

  1. Shape bulk sausage into patty. Pan fry without any oil
  2. Remove sausage, should be plenty of grease left in pan
  3. Pan fry beaten egg in sausage grease, fold it so it fits into the muffin, remove and set aside
  4. Add some butter to pan, pan fry muffin on both sides for about a minute each side
  5. Remove muffin and immediately add sliced cheese, sausage and egg

Making these at home just make sense. I don’t feel like McDonald’s version tastes any better or different. Nice work!

I made double egg double cheese sum honey ham 😋. Much better from home with your own hands then bought. Hands down

Not only is this an affordable set of ingredients that should provide a week’s worth of breakfasts but it is also made in a single pan, so the recipe is efficient along with easy cleanup.

I make these at home too. TJ’s English muffins work, Walmart’s are almost as good. One egg, one Bob Evans sausage flattened, half a piece of processed cheese (I freeze the other half and use those later.)

I make these as well. I wish they would freeze as well as a burrito.

    Open for suggestions 😁

I make a week’s worth on Sunday then grab and go!

I definitely prefer making my own at home. That way I can cook the sausage extra and have the egg yoke kinda runny.

  9. Yea, now do all that in the car otw to work 😂

Make the same quite often for about half that price with on-sale purchases only.

English muffins at .99c/6 or less, and ground pork around $2/lb + spice

Process cheese slices on sale at $2/24

Sadly I pay about the same for eggs.

The Sausage patty that tastes most like WackArnold’s, can be found at WallyWorld or Aldi’s. Still working on the hollandaise…🤪

    I live in Alaska

The sausage, egg and cheese Mcbiscuit here costs $8.70… it is NOT worth buying anything there now
