Remain 71 thousand tons of Italian extra virgin olive oil in the reservoirs of the peninsula. And at the rate of a marketing which just remains below 10 thousand tons per month, it is to be assumed that we will arrive at the next olive oil campaign with supplies yes, but reduced to the bare minimum.

This also explains the growth in purchases of foreign extra virgin olive oil: in a month, where the marketing of this type of oil was significant, theand stocks increased from 72 to 74 thousand tons, of which the vast majority are from the community. And therefore, with the month of May, there is officially more foreign extra virgin olive oil in stock than Italian.

With the addition of virgin olive oil, lampante, refined oil and olive pomace oil, the monthly report of the Sian register as of April 30th speaks of a total stock equal to 205 thousand tons, 18 thousand less than the same period last year.

To confirm that they are the large cooperatives andpackaging industry to draw the national olive oil geography, here is the data on a provincial basis which sees the province of Bari with 27,4 thousand tons of oil, followed by Perugia with 24,8 and, at a safe distance, the Bat – Bari Andrea Barletta with 15,1 thousand, Florence, Siena e Reggio Calabria with 11 thousand.

Di organic oil there are still some available 24 thousand tons, Of which 14 thousand Italians, while they add up to 14 million litres of certified extra virgin olive oil, Of which over 5 million Terre di Bari Dop which leads this special classification of stocks, with a 35% which is equal to the sum of the other three certified productions (in order, and practically aligned, Tuscan IGP, Sicily IGP and Val di Mazara Dop).
