Have to shout this guy out!

I was in downtown doing errands and I randomly came across this spot on Google maps. The owner/chef runs a catering and takeout business out of a commercial kitchen in DTLA. You just pick it up from him directly in the loading dock. I’m pretty new to west African food so when I called to order, I asked him for his recommendation. I ordered the Jollof with chicken, the Gambian peanut stew and a baobab drink.

Everything was delicious, especially the chicken on the jollof. When I first saw the stew, I thought it looked oily, but it was delicious and didn’t taste oily at all (or maybe just mixed together, I didn’t notice lol). Also, I don’t think the images and containers do the portion size justice— but this was more than plenty for 2 people. It was my first time having baobab and I’ve never had anything like it! So good.

Overall, totally recommend. I thought the prices were ok as well in today’s LA. Total came to around ~$45 including tax. I’m sure there’s tons of other delicious items on the menu.

I hope his business continues growing because he really seemed passionate about the food and was such a nice guy! Sounds like I’m sponsored lol I’m not.
