Is anybody using something like this? I guess one idea behind it is that it doesn't allow as much airflow through it. It should help keep that side from sucking air in (smoke going out the chimney creating a vacuum) and being cooler.

I think most pellet stoves are designed with some airflow through the grease drip hole in mind. It might be a fix for something that’s not broken. I also like drowning yellowjackets in the grease too!

But then you can’t see how full it is. A lot of pellet grills are designed to have some open gaps or holes.

But then i have to empty the bucket myself

In 24 years of pellet grilling I’ve never had to empty a grease bucket because the open top allows my highly trained opossums to do their part.

Then what would my 2 pugs lick off the patio when it spills over?

If your dog is smart, they’d only make the mistake once. Poor thing was shittin for days

It’s a good idea if you have dogs like I do and forget to remove the bucket. I always try to remember to put it inside the smoker

  7. I have it in mine to keep the dog from getting at my bucket. Works for that.

I go to the paint store and get empty paint cans. When its full I pound the lid on it and shit can it.

The only purpose these serve is keeping animals out. Pellet smokers aren’t meant to be airtight.

I like the idea, but my gut says it will drip down the tube, some will stay on the bottom side of the lid, and drip off onto the ground. Not that a spill here and there doesnt happen, but I feel like this would actively drip when running the smoker. Also, the airfow thing someone else mentioned. Maybe an issue, maybe not.

    Just a thought.

Just got one recently. So far, so good. No more worry about spilling when putting the cover on/off. Its not air tight by any means but it does stop some heat loss in the end by not making that hole 100% open to wind
