Hey everyone. My dad has always been a huge Tabasco fan. Back in 2018 I bought him a bottle of the limited edition Diamond Reserve Tabasco hot sauce and it immediately imprinted on the man’s soul. Fast forward to today and he is mere drips away from finishing the bottle (after holding on for too long imo).
For anyone that has tried the Diamond Reserve, are there any sauces you’ve found that have a similar taste profile? I’m not a hot sauce user myself so I thought I’d ask around.

I can’t say I’ve tried this sauce but I have a bottle of the Family Reserve one that uses similar ingredients.
If you want what I’d call the pinnacle of the vinegar forward pepper sauce style like this I’d suggest trying Skyline Hot Sauce from Cincinnati, it’s everything good about Tabasco but then some. Stronger flavor, more complex, more heat, great mouth feel. It has Tabasco peppers in it but they add red jalapeno and cayenne peppers too and somehow that just sets it off. It’s brighter and more fruity but maintaining a perfect heat level.
Yeah unless you want to drop $250 on another diamond reserve, Family Reserve is going to be as close as you can get. Nothing else is really going to compare because Tabasco is so unique. But Diamond reserve used Sparkling White Wine Vinegar and Family Reserve uses White Wine vinegar, both of which are unique amongst the Tabasco line up. So Family will be the closest
Brother my company made those boxes back in like 2017!! Can’t remember what they went for back then, but I can tell you the box didn’t cost very much 🤣
I was never aware of this Diamond Reserve sauce. Now I want to try it, but not at those insane prices.
If you replace the bottle easily, then the experience of this unique, special, limited hot sauce, will lose value for your dad. You gave him a delightful experience he’ll never forget.
Maybe it’s an opportunity to put him on to something new that’s out there !
I bought one when it first came out and I really like how champagne vinegar elevates the sourness of the Tabasco. It was really good and I miss it.

I was at the Country Store I October and they basically admitted that the family reserve is just this in a less fancy bottle.
I do have an unopened diamond bottle in the basement if anyone is really desperate to prove it out.
