I normally don’t eat COTS, but this was deal too good to pass up.

A decade ago these would have been 10 for a dollar in my part of the US

My nostalgia really likes these mustard sauce tins. I know that they are terrible quality, but they were the very first sardines that I ever tried, or even saw irl. They were also the only ones that I would eat for years after that, so all five of my children were also introduced to them.

I usually have one tin of them in my pantry, just for those times when the most comforting of comfort food is essential. Just that tin, some saltines, and a fork.

Is that at giant eagle? They look like giant eagle sale tags. Every now and then I’ll pick up some COTS tins just because they aren’t horrible. I’m not a huge fan of the lemon sauce ones but the mustard ones I do like.

I recently bought 48 cans for $1.29 a piece (Season Brand). So that’s a good deal!

They were a great deal, and they are decent, despite what the sardine snobs say.
     Good job!

    Good price.

A couple months ago I found them for $0.25 each, and I had a way to get them for 20% off, so totaled out to $0.20 each. I hot around 100, and would have bought more, but all the stores ran out.

I personally ended up liking the in water ones the best, especially for using them as an ingredient in a dish. But I found that the in water ones were cleaner and less fishy, and i preferred the texture, even though almost everyone suggested to focus on the olive oil ones.

Also, the in water ones are easier to add flavors to. Like I make my own fermented mustard, sriracha, and other hot sauces, and I like to use those instead of the flavored cans. And the in water is easier to smoke. Crack a can open, empty the water out, and toss it in a smoker
