My very first job, at 14 years old, was stocking drinks and cleaning the parking lot of a gas station. Ed had his first bbq trailer in the parking lot. He kept things that needed to be cold, in the gas stations walk in cooler.
Often, when my shift was over, Ed would send me home with a couple of racks of ribs that “had held too long to serve.”. It was only about a mile and half walk home, but I very often ate an entire rack on the way.
