Can says this is 6 servings of pot roast based on 6 in the can, cans mostly water, a serving size of meat is about the size of a deck of cards, so this would actually be 1.9 servings of actual meat, 6 servings would be if the entire can was a solid piece of meat.
Overall ration has 850 calories, thats it for today (on reduced rations the rest of the month).
To save space in the pantry i opened all the bettery crapper creamy mash potatoes and dumped them into that half gallon jar. This is 3 large spoons of powder added to a cup of boiling water.
Its 2/3 of a can of beans.
I bought that roast beef years ago but never use it. Had 10 cans originally, doing this ration to use them up.

Damn, 850 calories/day? That’s rough – you running low? We don’t need to worry about you, do we?
Bro doesn’t feel hunger anymore, but he’s neglecting himself.
nice potato mask
I’m sure that buttery topping is just awful for you, but it sounds so delicious lol I wonder if it’s similar to flavacol that movie theaters use on their popcorn.
I thought these potatoes were fucked up eggs
Looks pretty good to me. I love canned meat way too much to keep my hands off it for so long though.
I see these posts and I wonder what the motivation is for eating this way. Is it free will, diet, or budget?
Looks like the standard Dutch home made dinner.
It’s funny, I saw your r/shittyfoodporn and it immediately brought a nostalgic smile to my face. I grew up with a lot of institutional food prepared from pantries of cans and powders. May not look great, but to this day these plates are a comforting, warm hug to the belly and heart.
Hope you get some warmth and some exercise. This too shall pass!
This is just food. I get that it’s expired, but it’s clearly not moldy, spoiled, or otherwise compromised. I’ve happily eaten a plate of food that looks just like this many times. Sorry, doesn’t belong here.
This looks AI (sarcasm)
Love that you call your meal “ration”.
Hell yeah, brother. This is why I’m in this sub
You managed to make a meal look like it was AI generated.
Looks better than the USDA $3 per plate meal with a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, one tortilla and something “else” at 500 Calories.
Those are the creamiest, smoothest powder mashed potatoes Ive ever seen.
I don’t know why but this looks like a proper Newfound Sunday boiled supper to me, the only thing missing is some nice brown mystery gravy. I must admit that that canned beef looks really yummy, like something that came right out of the slow cooker.
Your plating skills and presentation are really good, it’s very important when you completely lose your appetite to make the food look as appealing as possible because it truly is just another chore to add to your day.
As we all know how munching food while trapped indoors due to seasonal weather is a great way to pass the time, it’s just terrible for our waistlines.
I have come to really enjoy and look forward to these posts, if you have a YouTube channel I would love to subscribe. I really appreciate your viewpoints and pragmatic approach to tackling life off the grid while managing all your disabilities.
Soon spring will come and your doggies will get to run and play and have walks outside once more. People seem to forget that seasons do in fact change over time lol.
My stepdad was a lumberjack on a very limited retirement income after the Canadian government stole everyone’s pensions. We were lucky to be able to afford beef more than four times a year on our meager budget. We only ate meat at supper and it was almost always roasted chicken thighs and boiled potatoes with margarine. Rice was considered a luxury only served for special occasions, usually as a side for teriyaki beef.
2023 was only last year 🤷♀️
Stokeley’s has the best canned veg and their canned tomatoes taste as good as fresh, no lie. Dollar General used to sell the tomatoes but I haven’t been able to find any Stokeley’s veggies for a couple of years now.
Why are the mashed potatoes glaring at me?
Ok, posting this link, its a picture of my back in 2021. Had half my spine bolted together after a logging accident. Thus is why i cannot feel hunger or full, nor feel my left side. Lots of nerves severed when my spine was bolted together.

A tree fell on me march 18th 2021. 9 vertebrae were broken (cervical and thoracic). Both my lungs crushed (was bleeding out and drowning. Paramedics had to do a lot with metal spikes into my lungs), heart bruised, all my ribs broken, back muscles pulverized. I had no cell signal so crawled to the road, i assumed i was dead but wanted to be found so my dogs wouldn’t die starving in my cabin without me. Sone mennonites on a buggy found me 6 hours later and went to call 911. I had to be airlifted out of state to the closest trauma ward. Report on radio (people told me after) was that i died but was revived. Barelly got to hospital and they stuck an IV in me, a tube down my throat and cut into my lungs before painkiller or memory blocking drugs kicked in (i remember and felt it all).
Was in hospital 2 weeks until they no longer needed 1inch tubes sticking out of my sides to drain my bleeding lungs (new blood via IV) and by then i could walk with a walker. Was sent from hospital then had no follow up care or PT, crashed on a friends couch for a month and taught myself to walk again. Tossed out the morphine pills as soon as i was out of hospital.
Long term i live in extreme pain, have limited flexibility, my left side is numb which includes the stomach nerves telling me to eat ir not to eat. Hence i have to compensate by scheduling when to eat because i have forgotten up to a week a couple times. I’m locked in a slumped forward hunchback shape.
I spend most of my time in a recliner but walk my dogs when i can, and do work on my farm if i can (if i can’t i just hire Amish or Mennonites to do it).
I just showed someone this link about why i can’t do upper body exercises. Best i can do is walk when the weather permits (high humidity and low temperature can easily leave me bedridden in pain).
