A new Italian restaurant in Baton Rouge’s Mid City neighborhood will open this week.
Josephine’s Italian Cuisine, 5350 Government St., is officially open for dinner Jan. 22 inside of the former Roman’s Cafe.
The menu is inspired after co-owner and executive chef Russell Davis’ Sicilian grandmother, including dishes like her lasagna, cannoli, pomodoro and stuffed shells. The selection of Italian food will also have appetizers, soups, salads and pizzas made from the in-house pizza oven. Desserts include dishes like panna cotta and tiramisu. The menu will feature daily specials and brunch on Sundays.
Inside, the dining area was designed by a local interior design business, Workshop 31-Twelve.
Russell Davis co-owns Josephine’s with his wife Sally Davis, and they also own Eliza Restaurant and Bar, 7970 Jefferson Highway, and Jed’s Local, 672 Jefferson Highway.
Josephine’s is open for dinner this week until Sunday. The restaurant will be open at 4 p.m. Jan. 22, with regular hours coming soon. Reservations are available at josephinesbr.com.
