CLARKSBURG, Calif. —

The historic Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg has entered a new era as a Yolo County company takes ownership, following the property’s foreclosure last summer. The sudden death of its owner from Southern California left the venue’s future uncertain.

Highland Pacific Capital LLC of Woodland signed the deed Dec. 24, 2025, and paid $11,500,00 for the 128-acre property, according to the Yolo County Assessor’s Office.

“We’ve been kind of on the sidelines since COVID, just waiting for something, something to catch our eye,” said Jobin Randhawa, new property manager.

The company didn’t have to look far to purchase the new property. Randhawa said they want the nearly a dozen wineries operating tasting rooms to focus on their passion for pouring wine.

“I would really want to focus on just letting people know that the wineries are still here, the tenants are still here, the ones that everyone loved and came to with their memberships, they’re all still here,” he said.

Rina DiMare, owner of Elevation Ten, which has had a tasting room at the Old Sugar Mill for 16 years, has already had several meetings with the new owners.

“Their vision sounds very exciting. They have been supportive of trying to get things rolling again,” she said.

The wineries had faced uncertainty and challenges with the foreclosure.

“Foreclosure was very difficult right up there next to COVID,” Dimare said. “It was hard because it just happened so quickly, and we really had no time to prepare.”

During the foreclosure period, the wineries maintained the property by paying bills and keeping the lights on.

Jennifer Ramos, manager of Rendez-Vous Winery, shared her relief and excitement about working with local owners.

“Having the new owners jump on board has been a sigh of relief for us,” she said. “We’re hoping for great things in the future, knowing that there’s somebody who has a vision and a direction that they want to take the Old Sugar Mill in, and with what benefits the facility benefits the wineries and vice versa.”

One of the new owner’s visions is to reopen the custom crush winemaking operation, allowing wineries to produce their own wines on the property and give a boost to local grape growers.

“We really want you to come back and enjoy the Old Sugar Mill, like you did previously,” Dimare said. “Just want to make sure everyone comes back and supports us and supports the new owners.”

The new owners also plan to host more concerts, weddings, and events, aiming to transform the Old Sugar Mill into a wine destination rather than just a day trip.
