Looks too thick, dry, that the bread would fall apart, and missing some veggies and whatnot.
Torrance Japanese food in general is pretty bomb (Redondo dweller here) so I hope and even assume I am wrong but man that is not what I think of when I think of a tonkatsu sandwich.
How was it and how much was the price?

Doesn’t look very good to me, sorry, OP! 😭
RealCleverUsernameV2
Looks awful.

Dude. *This is Reddit.* 90% of the people here are eating chicken nuggies in their parents’ basement. They don’t know shit.
Katsu sandos are awesome! But you’ll never convince most Redditors of that.
ChiefRedChild
LMAOOO you paid 18$ for that? 💀

I don’t know…

Man, I miss grabbing those cold, pre-made katsu sando from the cooler at FamiMa. Cheap and surprisingly delicious. So much better than it had a right to be, haha.

It looks like 1 1/2 sandwiches. Who had the other half of that half?

Lotta haters commenting here
But OP, i would eat that, my only question, do they offer sauces? Perhaps some cabbage on that sando would be a fine addition.

I thought katsu was typically thinner but I bet it still slapped if it was cooked right

That box worries me. The best sandwiches aren’t in fancy packaging. They speak for themselves.

The Japanese perfect and refine so many things.
The sandwich is an exception. They made it worse.

Sand has more moisture

It’s probably tasty but goddamn I think it would actually be better if it was thinner sliced with some veggie roughage added
Sooperballz
Do you eat it cold? Where is the 4th half?

Choking hazard?

18 bucks for that dump in a box? Hahaha

breaded meat in bread. I’m sure it wasn’t gross, so that’s great for OP but he/she/they are absolutely insufferable in these replies.

Looks just like what you’d get at the train station in Tokyo! Hard to find a good miso sauce here

It’s got all the elements but in the wrong proportion and not executed how I’ve had them in the past. Thinner cutlet, better breading(at least adhesion) and a bread with more body to deal with the grease. This seems like something sold outside of Monkish as “authentic” to appease nerds that don’t know better.

Next time I’m in the mood for the driest sandwich on earth I’ll check it out.

Why is everyone decimating op with downvotes? There is clearly something I’m missing, which is par for the course tbh, I live in my sisters attic sometimes.

Clicked this post hoping to see OP get nuked in the comments, was not disappointed

I’ve had tonkatsu ramen. And frittered as well. This is not at all what you were given.

Dude that looks so good. What’s the seasoning like? It wasn’t too salty was it?

bad western sandwich = 🤢🤮 bad sandwich (but japanese) = 😍🤩🤩

Omg I thought this was the foodLA sub so I went in the comments expecting general admiration for the katsu sando. Found lots of people hating on something they don’t know anything about. (I can’t believe someone even gave you shit for calling it a sando.) I feel like such a snob but I have a much greater appreciation for that sub and the LA food scene right now lol
