This whole bowl is 160 cal and weighs over a pound!! It’s an entire can of grass jelly (80 cal) for 540 grams and I added some coconut jelly (80 cal for 80 grams) for sweetness and texture. Topped the whole thing with some sugar free maple syrup and it tastes great. Doesn’t look the best but it’s super filling esp for when I have a late night craving.

I’m so intrigued by this is it seaweed?

  2. I grew up eating it! We used to put aunt Jemima pancake syrup on it as kids lol so the sugar free version makes it literally taste like a childhood snack

How and where are you guys finding non sweetened jelly? Or at least not syrupy sweet jelly

I have never heard of grass jelly before. I have to say it doesn’t sound appetizing.

I have this with home-brewed milk tea (that’s sweetened w/ stevia and then been cooled) on top, it’s delicious 🙂 Chuck in a few ice cubes and a few lychees and it’s so decadent!

  13. The downvote brigades in this community in particular are so bewildering. It’s worse here than in any other sub I follow. Like, you don’t have to downvote something just because some other people did. Lol. Anyway, it looks interesting and a little intimidating because it’s kind of giving Greek grape leaves in a bowl, but I would be curious to try it!

I’m Chinese living all my life in the UK. My late father used to eat this in cans from Chinatown. It’s not particularly flavourfull. If anything it has a mildly bitter taste. So you’ll have to add sweetener or jelly to enjoy it. My dad liked it without. I did not.

I wonder what would make this a better volume food vs regular sugar free jelly? I’d expect western pallets to enjoy that more.

Pour in some unsweetened almond milk and a 0 cal sauce/syrup of your choice and it’s amazing on a hot day, trust me on this

I used to have these to help fill me up when dieting, but forgot they existed!! Just restarting my calorie control again, so thank you for the inadvertent reminder haha

Being jelly, there is really not anything htrat in it but as a empty calorie snack it’s fine
