Dear Reddit,

I'm in a really bad dysautonomia episode and have only been able to tolerate about 5-10% of my caloric RDA for over two months, and don't tolerate TPN at a viable rate, including potassium infusions, only tolerating it dietarily. Something I've been prescribed to try to help is fludrocortisone, but this can further deplete potassium. My only viable option seems to be bamboo shoots, but they'd expensive as hell fresh, so I'd like to know whether the pre-packaged bamboo shoots, even in this larger format, still contain as much potassium as the fresh ones, were the latter prepared carefully at home to be safe, or if the industrial prep method stops them from having anywhere near as much as the 533 mg per 100 gram I've seen bandied around.

Kindly,

Sofi

  1. I don’t think you’ll find any hard data on this out there. In theory it should be the same since its a mineral.

The ones you have pictured here look like they’ve just been vacuum sealed fresh. You can also find them cut up in cans of water or brine. None of those processes would remove any nutrients.
