We booked Leroy and Lewis’s steak experience. When I saw mixed reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect so I was on the fence about keeping it. But I’m so glad I did and we really enjoyed the food and the experience.

We definitely over-ordered but we took all our leftovers home and had enough food for a few meals. They started us off with an amuse bouche that was delicious (fig wrapped with thin sliced pastrami with a honey dip) Since we’d heard great things about the barbecue, we got a plate to share (brisket, beef cheeks, sausage). Then we ordered the Caesar salad to “lighten things up”, the chili, and onion rings. We ended the night with the porterhouse and a tour of the pits. It was so enlightening to hear from the pit master about how long our steak had taken to get to our table from the start of the process. It really made me appreciate the labor of love that is barbecue.

It’s tough to get reservations (I’ve been watching OpenTable like a hawk) and this is definitely a special meal, but it was worth every penny. Bonus: I rendered beef fat from the fat cap and used the porterhouse bone in French onion soup which made one of the best French onion soups I’ve ever made at home!
