I pay $36 per KG and use approximately 500-750g per month. I don’t see the need to spend anything more than that and I am not into trying different beans all the time. I like to find one good bean that produces consistently good coffee and then I stick with it.
Proper-Ape
40€/kg for beans, every 3 weeks.
madlabdog
I usually buy 2 lbs bag for about $35-$40 and it lasts me about 6 weeks.
Miffy_alt
Having a Rancilio and using Illy pre-ground coffee is absolutely insane.
LeFriedCupcake
Illy is not worth it that much for 250g, they are as high as speciality coffee. Usually €80 a month with local roasters.
pixlatedpuffin
$22/pound bag and probably 2 bags per month, plus a gallon of milk. So around $50-60 USD. 2 drinks per day typically.
Retail would be $4-5 per drink or $240-300/month.
Mr-BARISTA
1 kg of medium roast beans cost 16 usd and lasts me a month with 30gms used everyday . Using freshly roasted arabica from a local roaster in india.
SpecialistSmell188

I have a rotation of 3-5 different coffee beans for different shots – Espresso and V60 at home, Aeropress at the office – and I get them from a couple of local roasters. 250 g bags usually, 15 € each approximately. 45-60 €/month on average.
juan_004
Less than 300mxn, which is about 16 bucks? For me it’s usually whatever’s good at Costco at the time and every so often I’ll get a quarter bag of nice specialty stuff.
Elmusicoo
Wife and I $25 for two pounds from a local roaster per month.
FairAssistance0
In Melbourne Australia, I try to support small local roasters where possible, this means I’m spending around 40-50 usd per kg. Probably lasts around a month.
HandbagHawker
~4 12oz bags @ $15-20/12oz bag=> $60-80 usd
Krauzber
2-3kg per month at 40€/kg.
EmpathOwl

I spend way too much and have ended up storing a bunch of bags in the freezer cuz I simply cannot drink/brew them that fast. As for your can of beans, those look cool. I have seen Illy start do other countries on their cans. Anyway, you don’t have to buy “espresso beans” – espresso can be made with any roast or source. Some may be better than others but still, you can definitely expand out. Good luck! Btw, for espresso I love Italian roasts so I order from a company that brings bags from Italy. It’s quite darn good!
Ok_Fold1685
Even if your town doesn’t have a good roaster maybe your country has? Many roasters ship nationwide free if you order over a certain amount. I am on a subscription with fried hats Amsterdam where I buy 750g espresso and 1kg filter every month at 40€/kg free shipping within the Benelux states.
igoslowly
maybe $125/kg
DramaticSir5464
In Aus. I have a subscription to an interstate roaster. 1kg delivered monthly. Price just went up to $43/kg

Just bought 5lbs of coffee on eBay for like 50 bucks. I think it’ll last me like 6 months lol
ManbrushSeepwood
Usually buy 3 bags per month (250 g each), average bag cost would be €20. So about €60/mo, usually from Nordic roasters or occasionally elsewhere in the EU.
kenn11eth
£28 in England for two 250g bags via Gustatory. They send different beans every month from specialty roasters based on my preferences. Allows me to get beans at a discount and explore.
LucyPussNamonie
Here in southern Philippines, I spend around 40 EUR (converted) for 2 kilos of beans every month. It is either cerrado, brazil or the local Mt Apo. Both specialty grade done by small scale local roasters.
PreacherOfGod
I’m buying fresh roasted beans that goes around 30€/kg, more or less depending on the variety. I’m drinking an average of 10 cups per week so let’s say 600g a month.
fabripav
Interesting, at least half of the people in this thread don’t use specialty coffee. I’m very surprised
dallasp2468
About £35 a month usually £7.50 to £8 a bag for 250g from James gourmet coffee and rave
Stroomelet
The same illy Brazil batch you holding constantly clogs up my df54. Completely unusable for me. Luckily have many local roasters so I stopped with the supermarket coffee
propercare
I spent about 35€ for 1kg of Grani D’Oro Five Stars from Vescovi. Thats for everyday espresso. Also buy from time to time some Specialty coffies for Moka pot.
Feisty_Gorilla
You spent 80€ per month on fucking illy?
Is this a joke?
I pay ~30-40€ / kilo for freshly roasted, and that lasts me at least two months.
Blacktip75
For two persons:
Decaf, 23 gram per day (€107,50 per kg or €43,60 per kg about 50/50 split) -> €52 per month
Regular week day coffee 49 gram per working day (€60 per kg) -> €65 per month
Weekend coffee (often specialties) 59 to 95 gram per day (€ 112,50 per kg or €60 per kg if it’s my regular 50/59) -> €41 – €66 per month
So beans is about €170
Milk: 3 cappucino’s per day with 88ml milk it’s about 8 liter per month at 2€ per liter -> €16 per month
Machine write off:
Taking 8 years for write off, bit arbitrary, Silvia lived 25 years, ECM 5 years, LM should live a little longer, but can imagine I get upgraditis at some point. -> €75 per month
Cleaning stuff, replacement parts, about €5 per month
Total coffee costs: € 266 per month with the majority being beans or €4,43 per person per day so fairly high end isn’t too extreme per day even
