The theory is sound, but the application and results seem iffy at best.
I’d dry the onions 10x as much. Would flour then fry in oil in a pan, the air fryer is just gonna make em all mushy. Maybe a really thick batter instead.
Treat em like fried pickles.

The idea is cool but the execution is meh

No, but looks easy and tasty, so worth a try. I’m planning to stay inside for the next 3 days of winter storm, so maybe ill try this but with onion rings as I’m stocked up on regular onions, but not jarred onions.

This has potential. Let her cook. It better.

Put the onions in flour, coat them even, and remove excess. In the same leftover flour mix salt, garlic powder, a bit of baking powder and some paprika. Throw an egg in there with a touch of milk and mix it until all incorporate.
It should be batter consistency, so if too thick add a bit of milk, if too watery add more flour. Put some panko on a plate. Coat your balls in small batches in the batter and let the excess drip off before rolling them on some panko.
Fry on the stove, with a flavorless oil. Put them on a big flat plate with some paper towel. They must not be on top of one another, they might get soggy that way.
Fry 1 and taste without adding more salt after frying, if they need more salt toss it on them evenly right after taken out of the oil so it sticks.

Why not just make regular onion rings

I love the part where it doesn’t look cooked and she grabs the food with her fingers. Tf was the point of that, now it may just be me but as soon as someone handles their food so carelessly it instantly becomes unappetizing.

I wanna try this, but when you picked up a handful of em with your hands, I cringed.

That execution is pathetic. Treat them like onion rings and fry them in oil after going into a nicely seasoned batter….
….my brain just exploded with the idea of doing these as bite sizes blooming onions!!

Look up onion pakora (Indian snack). Same principle, but better execution. Delicious!
